Dan Nixon

Dan is founder and owner of The Paragon Group Inc. based in Ogden, Utah.  They are primarily involved in ground up development and operations of Self Storage properties throughout the Wasatch Front of Utah.  The company started in 1994 and celebrated 25 years of business in 2019. Currently, Dan is owner/operator of 11 locations and 6,000 units.  Brands include Lock It Up Self Storage (lockitup.com) and Cubes Self Storage (cubesselfstorage.com)

 

He is also Vice President of Nixon & Nixon Inc., a real estate development and brokerage company that owns and develops residential and commercial real estate in Northern Utah.  They have been in business since 1961.  From 1985 to 2005 Dan was responsible for building over 300 homes and developed multiple subdivisions and commercial properties.

 

Dan has volunteered in many community and industry positions. Some include:

• Utah Self Storage board member and advisor 1997 – present.  He has been an advocate in the state of Utah promoting the industry.  Involved in passing legislation as well as helping educate fellow owners and vendors for many years. 

• Self Storage Association (selfstorage.org). Board of Directors 2000-2006, 2015 – present.  Currently, serving as Board Past Chairman. The SSA is the National Non Profit Association that represents the Self Storage Industry. 

• St. Anne's Center Corp. (Lantern House) Board member 2013 – present.  Currently Dan serves as a Board member.  They operate a 350 bed homeless shelter in Ogden, Utah.  They are one of three full service shelters in the State.  Dan was part of a team that raised funds and built the new shelter in 2016.

 

Dan is a 1985 graduate of the John M. Huntsman School of Business – Utah State University with a degree in Finance.  He is a licensed Real Estate Broker.  He is married to Kathy, has 3 children and 6 grandchildren.  He enjoys travel, outdoor sports and spending time with friends and family.
